Three prosecution witnesses in the Benazir Bhutto murder case claimed receiving death threats from the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan, forcing one of them to avoid recording his statement before the court on Saturday.
The other two witnesses, Inspectors Ejaz Shah and Ilyas, told the Anti-Terrorism Court that they received threatening phone calls from a number in Afghanistan, and the caller identified himself as the deputy chief of the TTP.
The caller warned them against appearing before the court or they would be killed, said Special Prosecutor FIA Chaudhary Zulfiqar.
The third witness, Ashfaq Ahmed, refused to show up in court, and has switched off his mobile phone since receiving the threat, Zulfiqar said.
Another prosecution witness representing a cellular company presented the records of two SIMs used by prime accused militants Rafaqat Hussain and Hasnain Gul.
After recording the statements, the court directed the police to provide them security and summoned the remaining witnesses on March 4.
