Concert: Khattak dance, some music and much needed break from studies

Over 2,000 students from different colleges rocked at a music concert at the Open Air Theatre in Islamabad.

On Saturday, Rawalpindi students decided to show the federal capital how to culturally come alive. 

Over 2,000 students from the Rawalpindi College of Commerce (RCC) and the Jinnah Institute of Informatics (JII) rocked at a music concert at the Open Air Theatre in Islamabad.

The concert, organised by the Rawalpindi Group of Colleges, started with college students including Shahrukh, a second-year student at JII, performing cover songs.

But the crowd went wild when the concert’s headline act, local singer Bilal Saeed, came on stage.

The audience danced in the aisles and cheered as Saeed performed his popular songs “12 saal” and “Adhi adhi raat.”

Saeed kept the young men and women on their feet as he performed seven songs.

Ali Hamza Peera, one of the concert’s organisers, said the atmosphere at the concert exceeded his expectations.

“It is amazing,” Peera said. “We wanted the students to have a break from their studies and it looks like they absolutely loved the concert.”

Ahmed Quddusi, a second-year BCom student at RCC, attended the concert with his college friends. “I especially enjoyed dancing with my friends,” Quddusi said.

Earlier, Islamabadi pop-rock band Alag warmed up the young crowd with their songs, “Dhokay Baaz” and “Sab Se Alag.”

A group of student also performed a traditional Khattak dance on stage at the start of the concert.
