PESHAWAR:

The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Local Councils Association has demanded the timely holding of local government elections in the province.

In a message issued on the occasion of Eidul Azha, Association Chairman Himayatullah Mayar urged the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa government to ensure the prompt conduct of local elections by fully implementing the relevant laws and constitutional provisions.

While congratulating local representatives, the people of the province, and overseas Pakistanis on Eidul Azha, Mayar praised the performance of local body representatives, saying they have once again proved that the best municipal services can only be delivered to citizens at their doorstep through effective local government representatives.

"Local representatives have enabled the local government department and municipal service providers to successfully achieve their targets," he added.

Mayar reiterated his demand that the provincial government must fulfil its legal and constitutional responsibility by holding local government elections on time.

Meanwhile, Coordinator of the Local Councils Association, Intizar Khalil, said the platform would continue making every possible effort.
