Reply sought in Chaiwala's case

The Islamabad High Court has sought responses from the Director General of Immigration and Passports and the federal government, through the Interior Secretary, on a petition challenging the non-renewal of the passport of Arshad Khan, popularly known as "Arshad Chai Wala." Justice Umair Majid Malik heard the petition concerning the renewal of Khan's passport.

Barrister Umar Ejaz Gilani appeared before the court on behalf of the petitioner.

The counsel submitted that Arshad Khan is a patriotic Pakistani who has promoted Pakistani culture internationally.

He said NADRA's Verification Board had cleared the petitioner's identity card and that his ID remains active.

According to the counsel, Khan applied for renewal of his passport on August 20, 2025, but despite nearly a year having passed, his passport has not been renewed.

The court subsequently issued notices to the concerned parties and sought their responses on Arshad Khan's petition before adjourning the hearing.
