LAHORE:
Chief of Pakistan Muslim League- Quaid (PML-Q) Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, PML-Q Punjab president Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi said that alliance with the rival Pakistan Muslim League- Nawaz was out of question, Express News reported on Saturday.

Addressing a media briefing,  Chaudhry Shujaat said that as elections were around the corner, to speak of a political alliance at this point was useless.

“An alliance with PML-N is impossible”, he said.

Referring to Pir Pagara’s statements, Chaudhry Shujaat said his notion of alliances is a good one, however despite dated efforts by his father and PML-Q doing an alliance was impossible.

Pagara’s remarks came in the aftermath of the alliances that his party formed with the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), headed by former Prime Minister Mian Mohammed Nawaz Sharif .

According to Elahi, PML-N was consulting other political parties for seat-adjustments.  “Once the assemblies are dissolved, a lot of things will become obvious.” he claimed.

The  Nawab of Bahawalpur Salahuddin Abbasi, who was also present at the briefing,  shed light on his relations with the ruling Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP).

“I’ll tell you why I cooperated with the PPP for the first time. It was because an agreement was reached between myself and Benazir Bhutto, in London,” he said.

Abbasi said that Benazir Bhutto had told him that she would free the province of Bahawalpur as soon as she assumed office.

“It was God’s will that she remains no more but I had given my word. I suffered the elections after which I was free.” he said.

Nawab won the elections independently however he says he mostly sits with the PML-Q.
