Violence roundup: Attacks in Orangi Town claim three lives

Three injured when unidentified persons hurled a hand grenade at iron factory in Old City area.

A seminary administrator was among the four people gunned down in Karachi on Friday.


Qari Abdul Razzak, 35, who was the administrator of the Madrassa Darul Uloom Hussainia, was shot and killed in a targeted attack in Mansoor Nagar, Orangi Town. Razzak was attacked while on his way home from the seminary by two armed men. He was taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital but could not survive his injuries.

Shafqat Liaquat, 34 was killed at Chishti Nagar, Orangi Town. According to SHO Mohammad Sabir, the deceased was a rickshaw driver by profession. The incident took place when the victim was sitting in his rickshaw and two armed men shot him multiple times at a close range. He died on the spot.

Late Thursday night, a leader of the Ahle Sunnat wal Jamaat, Afroze Zafar, was shot dead in a targeted attack in Orangi Town. Police officials said that the deceased was at his general store when two armed men shot him dead.  An unknown young man was found dead near a scrap shop in Kharadar police limits.

Grenade attacks

At least three people were wounded when unidentified persons hurled a hand grenade at iron factory in Old City area. The injured were identified as Sikander, 25, Naeem, 35, and Adnan, 29. They were taken to Civil Hospital, Karachi. Police officials said that members of the extortion mafia were behind the incident. A petrol pump also came under attack when two armed men hurled a hand grenade at the pump but there were no injuries.
