Khateeb Badshahi Masjid lends support to polio immunisation campaign

Immunisation drops not created using un-Islamic material, says Maulana Abdul Khubair.

Khateeb Badshahi Masjid Mulana Abdul Khubair Azad  on Friday said that no un-Islamic material had been utilised in the manufacturing of polio immunisation drops, in a lecture on polio awareness.

Maulana Azad was addressing a seminar regarding polio at Badshahi Mosque after Jummah prayers. The Khateeb also emphasised that renowned Islamic scholars had given fatwas in favor of polio drops.

District Coordination Officer Lahore Noorul Amin Mengal also addressed the seminar and gave the example of India, saying it is a country of one billion people and it has no polio cases.


He urged the citizens of Lahore, and Pakistan at large to come forward and eradicate polio virus. He further said, “People should vaccinate their children for polio, measles, hepatitis A, B and C.”

He announced that CDGL had made it mandatory for parents to submit the vaccination card in order to enroll their children into school and to get their birth certificates.

He asked the citizens to cooperate with the polio teams.
