Poverty drives man to murder, suicide

A man committed suicide after killing his wife and three children in Landhi, Karachi on Friday.
Muhammad Asif, a resident of Majeed colony, strangled his wife Taaj Bibi and sons Waqas, Mohsin and Yasir.
The children were only seven, three and one and a half years old. Asif then hanged himself to death after committing the gruesome murders.
SP Landhi Nasir Aftab told the media that Asif also wrote a note before committing suicide.
The note said that he had murdered his family because of poverty and held himself responsible for the death of his wife and children.
At least 225 people including 73 women committed suicide during the last one month, according to report by the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP).
According to the report, most of these people ended their lives due to poverty and hostile circumstances.
