Well Being: Pakistan lags behind in health expenses

A report reveals federal government only spent 0.23% of the total GDP on healthcare during the fiscal year 2011-2012.

PESHAWAR:
A report researched and presented by the Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) has revealed that the federal government has only spent 0.23% of the total Gross Domestic Product on healthcare during the fiscal year 2011-2012.

The state of child health is appalling and serious efforts are needed by the government, to save lives of children who die every minute from preventable diseases.


The overall public health expenditure is far lower in Pakistan than in the neighboring countries.
