FAISALABAD:

Four workers were killed on Wednesday when a boiler at a dyeing factory on Jhurma Road exploded.

Mansoorabad SHO Rana Ghaffar said the explosion caused the roof and walls of the factory to collapse. He said four workers: Muhammad Ali, 23, Faizan, 28, Inaam Ali, 23, and Zahoor Ahmed were trapped under the debris. He said Faizan and Muhammad Ali died on the spot, while Inaam and Zahoor were taken to a hospital where they were pronounced dead.

The SHO said the police have registered a case and arrested the owner of the factory, Shahbaz Ahmad.

Many Mansoorabad residents later staged a protest demonstration against the administration for not forcing the factories out of residential areas.

They said that they had complained many a time to district and Environment officials, but they had ignored them.
