Alice in Wonderland through Burton’s eye

Adventures of Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass by Lewis Carroll have been my favourite books ever since I can remember.  Although I cannot recall every detail of the original plot, I still remember the crux of the story very well. The news of Tim Burton’s epic fantasy, which also happens to be Disney’s fourth biggest film of all time, exhilarated me. I did not have high expectations from the movie but I still wanted to see how it was different from the book.

The movie is not a remake  instead it is a sequel to the book. Hence, its plot is different. Alice is a 19-year-old eligible spinster who runs away from her engagement party. On her way, Alice finds a white rabbit and follows him until she falls into a bottomless ditch. That is where the story begins. She enters the mesmerising world of “Underland.” Apart from wandering around and meeting bizarre characters, she also develops a motto- to defeat the Jabberwocky and end the Red Queen’s regime.

Tim Burton has successfully managed to transform Carroll’s tale in a very fascinating way. Like always, Burton has stretched his imagination to the extreme to create something unique. It is indeed an exceptional treat for one’s eyes, ears and heart. The movie is sure to enthrall an audience of any age.

“I found myself in Wonderland. Got back to my feet, again. Is this real? Is this pretend? I’ll take a stand until the end.”
