Assembly agenda: MQM submits bill for Hyd university

KARACHI: A private bill for the establishment of a university in Hyderabad under public-private partnership was submitted in the Sindh Assembly by the MPAs of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement on Tuesday. Around 14 lawmakers of the parties have signed the bill.

Earlier, a news channel had reported that Sindh Education Minister Pir Mazharul Haq said that he wouldn’t allow universities to be set up in Hyderabad.

Haq, however, claimed that his comments had been taken out of context. MQM has been protesting against those comments and have even asked the minister to submit his resignation.

The party had announced to move the university bill on Monday, but acting speaker Shehla Raza adjourned the Sindh Assembly session till Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Pakistan Peoples Party also called its parliamentary meeting before the session. All MPAs have been asked to participate in the meeting to make a strategy before the session.
