Judges appointment: Petition for regular hearing admitted
Dogar requested the court to remove the objection and start regular hearing of the petition.
LAHORE:
Justice Nasir Saeed Sheikh of the Lahore High Court on Tuesday removed an objection raised by the registrar’s office and admitted a petition seeking appointment of judges in high courts through written tests and interviews after transparent advertisement. The registrar’s office had objected to the petition, saying it was not maintainable. The petitioner’s lawyer AK Dogar said on Tuesday the objection amounted to a denial of a fundamental right of lawyers who wanted to be judges of high courts. He requested the court to remove the objection and start regular hearing of the petition. The court granted the request. The registrar’s office would now fix the date of hearing.
