LAHORE:

The most fashion-active time of the year is here. With the New York Fashion Week (NYFW) 2013’s conclusion, the fashion frenzy for the year has begun. It’s time to invest money in clothes and accessories, but before you hit the stores, here’s all that you should be looking for:

Monochromes

Monochromes, specifically in black and white, are all the rage this season. From red carpet looks to fashion runways, monochromatic, geometric patterns are undoubtedly the fashion trend for spring/summer 2013. At the NYFW, some celebrities who donned the look included actor Christina Ricci, model Jessica Stam and stylist Rachel Zoe.

Be it a top, or pants or maybe both, there’s no overdoing this fad. Micheal Kors’ collection at NYFW stood out as it highlighted how not only women but men can carry this trend.

Metal fabrics & accessories

The NYFW saw a lot of metallic-finish fabrics used as accents or for entire outfits. Micheal Kors was at the forefront when it comes to incorporating metal accessories to dresses, his focus being on belts. You can pair a belt with a top, dress or trench and what you get in the end is a powerful and funky look.

Celebrities endorsing this trend include Bollywood actor Kareena Kapoor who wore a Tom Ford dress at her book launch. A metallic sheen skirt, from Tom Ford’s Spring Collection 2013, was seen on singer and model Jessica Beil.

Neon hints

Neons that took caused a stir in the fashion scene in 2012 are going to do another round of fashion as the trend is still gracing red carpets and runways. At the NYFW, actor Katherine Heigl was seen rocking her neon Louboutins, which were earlier sported by socialite Khloe Kardashian and Kristen Stewart.

Several designers at the NYFW showcased how the trend can be incorporated in your wardrobe without making you look like a clown. While Micheal Kors stuck to thinner accents, the collection by Victoria Beckhams and Tom Ford were far too audacious.

If you don’t want to overdo it or don’t consider yourself bold enough to carry a solid neon ensemble, then you can sport neon shoes, a neon clutch or a watch.

The best thing about these three trends is that you can combine two of them without making it look overdone or combine monochromes with a tint of neon or metal and you are all set to make the summer sweat!

Love the clothes, hate the pointy shoes! Who's feet fit those ridiculous looking things anyhow? Seriously.
