LAHORE:
The additional district and sessions court on Friday ordered action against police officials in two different cases.
A judge directed the operations DIG to take departmental action against the Factory Area police SHO and others allegedly involved in illegally detaining a man.
Petitioner Muhammad Azeem had submitted that the police had arrested his brother Nadeem without registering an FIR on February 19. He said his brother did not have a prior criminal record. Azeem alleged that his brother had also been tortured.
On Thursday the court had sent a bailiff who told the police to produce Nadeem in court on Friday and reported that no FIR had been registered in the case.
In another case, the judge directed the CCPO to take action against an SHO for not complying with court orders. Petitioner SM Zubairi submitted that he had previously obtained courts for the Garden Town police SHO to record his statement and an FIR against three men who had manhandled him for demanding his share in some property. Zubairi alleged that when he presented court orders to the SHO he was told that ignoring court orders was routine.
