ISLAMABAD:

An attempt by a property dealer to sell off a plot through forged documents has been foiled by the FIA.

Uzma Sagheer, the owner of the plot, did not know that her plot (No.618) worth Rs7.5 million in Sector G-9/1, was about to be sold off illegally by a property dealer, when the FIA Crime Circle sprang into action and foiled the attempt.

The FIA officials took the property dealer, Javed Akhtar, into custody after conducting a raid at his office situated in Aabpara. The property dealer was allegedly selling the plot to a buyer from Lahore on forged documents.

Inspector Khubaib Baloch of the FIA Crime Circle said that the owner of the plot is either in jail or abroad and the property dealer knew it.

While talking about the owner of the plot, another official in the CIA said that Uzma had been booked in an attempted murder case in the Shalimar police station. He said that they were ascertaining her whereabouts to inform her about the development.

The FIA officials suspected foul play on the part of some officials in the Estate Directorate of the Capital Development Authority (CDA), who may have tipped the property dealer about the status of the plot.

An investigation officer in the CIA said that investigation was under way and they would soon get to the prime suspect in the CDA.

Akhtar had prepared fake deed documents of the plot in the name of one, Sumera Kanwal, wife of Muhammad Akram. However, the plot belonged to Uzma Sagheer, wife of Nisar Ahmed.

The FIA officials said that they authenticated both the sale documents and signatures, which were found forged.

The National Identity Cards of the purported owners (couple) were also found fake.

As the story of the scam unfolded, Additional Director FIA Crime Circle, Sajjad Haider, formed a team led by Baloch to execute the raid.

Baloch said that Akhtar had the fake ID cards arranged by a supplier from Peshawar. He said that they were also looking for the alleged person, who supplied the fake ID cards to the property dealer.

Further investigation into the matter is under way.
