Bilateral Ties: Iran backs development of Pakistan

Consul General of Iran says bilateral trade would be helpful in boosting the economy of both the countries.

PESHAWAR:
Consul General of Iran in Peshawar Hassan Darvishvand said that work on Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline project should be expedited as it would be beneficial for Pakistan to overcome gas and power outages along with unemployment in the country.

He expressed his views while talking to journalists at the Peshawar Press Club on Thursday.

“Both the countries should avoid pressure from the US government and ensure timely completion of the project,” he said.

According to him, bilateral trade would be helpful in boosting the economy of both the countries.

However, he said that US presence in Afghanistan and Iraq was responsible for militancy and terrorism in South and Central Asia.

The envoy also linked establishment of durable peace in the region to stable-Afghanistan.
