PTI chairman’s lawsuit: Trial court asked to proceed with case

Asif alleged that Khan had lost a huge amount in a real estate gamble and this amount was donated for the SKMT.

ISLAMABAD:
The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Thursday disposed of a civil suit filed by Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf (PTI) chairman against a leader of the Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N), directing the trial court to proceed with the case. The PTI Chairman Imran Khan filed a law suit of Rs10 billion against the PML-N leader, Khawaja Asif, seeking a legal remedy for his disparaging allegations against the Shaukat Khanam Memorial Trust (SKMT). Khan filed the lawsuit before the IHC in December last year. Justice Muhammad Anwar Khan Kasi, while disposing of the case, directed the trial court to proceed with it. In August 2012, Asif alleged that he (Khan) had lost a huge amount in a real estate gamble and this amount was donated for the SKMT.
