Contempt proceedings: ‘Demolish illegal structures: CBC warned
The bench, headed by Justice Maqbool Baqar, ordered CBC to demolish the entire construction.
KARACHI:
The Sindh High Court (SHC) has warned the officers of Cantonment Board Clifton (CBC) and the police of contempt proceedings if the illegal parts of a commercial building are not demolished within two weeks.
The warning came on a petition filed by Wazir Ali Niazi, a resident of Khayaban-e-Jami, who went to court over the construction of a multi-storey commercial building contrary to approved construction plan.
According to Niazi, the owner of plot C-22/12, located in Punjab Colony on Khayaban-e-Jami, is raising a fifth floor on the building. “It may collapse at any time and cause damages to the neighbours,” the petitioner claimed. Even CBC’s law officer Ashraf Butt agreed that the fourth and fifth floors of the building were illegal.
The bench, headed by Justice Maqbool Baqar, ordered CBC to demolish the entire construction.
