Sindh Assembly speaker explains he cannot allot opposition seats to MQM members until governor accepts resignations.
KARACHI:
During the Sindh Assembly session on Wednesday, the MQM legislators had to sit on the treasury benches, even after they parted ways with the government. However, no party member raised this issue during the session. Later, the speaker explained that he cannot allot opposition seats to MQM members until the governor accepts their resignations.
Talking to the media after the Sindh Assembly session, Khuhro said that 51 MQM members have given their application for opposition benches. “No one from the MQM has given me an application for the slot of the opposition leader though,” he added.
A meeting between PPP and MQM members was also held at the chief minister’s chamber. It was attended by CM Qaim Ali Shah, information minister Sharjeel Memon, law minister Ayaz Soomro, Syed Sardar Ahmed, Dr Sagheer Ahmed and Faisal Subzwari.
