GST on power, gas
Government grants exemptions from GST on the use of electricity and natural gas to 150 registered industrial units.
ISLAMABAD:
The federal government has granted exemptions from general sales tax (GST) on the use of electricity and natural gas to 150 registered industrial units. Most of the industrial units are textile manufacturers.
According to the amended sales tax general order issued by the Federal Board of Revenue to this end, 134 of the units which got exemptions from sales tax on electricity receive power from the Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (Fesco). Ten units which receive natural gas from the Sui Southern Gas Company or Sui Northern Gas Pipelines have also been granted such an exemption. Five industrial units receiving power from the Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC) and two receiving power from the Lahore Electric Supply Company are also included in the exemption.
