Football: ‘Zenit to end Liverpool’s Euro dream’
Witsel says Liverpool are a very good team but we were the better side in the last match.
MOSCOW:
Zenit St Petersburg midfielder Axel Witsel believes the Russian champions, with a 2-0 first leg advantage, can progress to the Europa League last 16 at Liverpool’s expense tomorrow.
Last week Brazilian striker Hulk and verteran midfielder Sergei Semak struck in the space of three second half minutes to leave Liverpool with a mountain to climb at Anfield in the return leg.
“Liverpool are a very good team but we were the better side last Thursday,” said Witsel. “We clinched a two-goal advantage. Our chances in the return leg look good as Liverpool need to score three goals to advance.”
