PESHAWAR:
A Peshawar court issued arrest warrants for Peshawar Development Authority (PDA) Director General Qazi Laeeq over failing to comply with court orders.
According to details, Ghulam Habib Company Limited had constructed Block III and IV of the PDA building in 1998, which were later allotted to the provincial National Accountability Bureau and the Khyber Girls Medical College. The PDA, however, has not paid the Rs30 million for construction to the company.
Habib’s counsel Neelam Khan contended that despite the high court’s order, the PDA has been reluctant to release the funds. As a result, Senior Civil Judge Javed-ur-Rehman issued arrest warrants against Laeeq.
The court has also put the provincial accountant general on notice to seize PDA’s account and adjourned the case till Tuesday (today).

Secretary General of the Peshawar High Court Bar Association (PHCBA), Qazi Jawad, said the government should immediately arrest the culprits and announced to continue the strike till Wednesday.
The PHCBA had earlier announced to boycott court proceedings from February 8 to February 14 over the killing of PHCBA’s senior member Jarrar Hussain and the alleged police torture of advocate Furqan.
