Child marriage: 10-year-old married to 40-year-old
Vanika Tarar police said they had no idea about the child marriage and that they would look into the matter.

A 10-year-old girl was allegedly married to a 40-year-old man in Channi Waziran village in Sunday. Vanika Tarar police said they had no idea about the child marriage and that they would look into the matter. Talking to the Express Tribune, the girl’s mother Farida Bibi said that her daughter was happy to be married. She said the nikhakhawan was paid Rs15,000. Nikahkhwan Muhammad Yousaf said that the marriage was allowed in Shariah law. However, he said, that the union council might not register the nikahnama on account of the bride’s age.
