Electioneering: PPPP leads the race in campaign ads at buildings

The Pakistan Peoples Party Parliamentarians (PPPP) had the highest number of election campaign posters and other material pasted at public buildings between February 1 and February 7, 2013.


The observations were made by the Free and Fair Election Network’s (Fafen) District Long-Term Observers (DLTO) in 14 districts of Sindh and Punjab, said a handout issued by Fafen on Saturday.


The campaign materials included party banners, wall-chalking, posters and stickers on the premises of public offices. Fafen observers saw PPPP posters, graffiti and stickers at 17 public offices. They noticed campaign materials of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) on five buildings.

The DLTOs also observed campaign material at public places of Pakistan Peoples Party (Shaheed Bhutto), Pakistan Muslim League-Functional, Jamaat-e-Islami, Pakistan Awami Tehreek, Muttahida Qaumi Movement, Sindh Taraqqi Pasand Party and Pakistan Peoples Party-Parliamentarians (Patriots).

Most of the campaign advertisements were found at the offices of deputy commissioners and district coordination officers, followed by offices of the executive district officers (education). The fewest materials were seen outside the offices of electric supply companies, National Database and Registration Authority and Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited and Sui Southern Gas Company.
