Railways began the shuttle service on February 9 and charged Rs10 for a single round initially.
LAHORE:
Pakistan Railways has decided to operate two shuttle trains between Shahdara and Kot Lakhpat for free as of yesterday (Friday), a Railway official said. Each shuttle has three bogies and will complete 10 rounds on the track daily, he said. Railways began the shuttle service on February 9 and charged Rs10 for a single round initially. However, the official said the federal government had ordered a fare waiver for a month starting February 15. Commuters will be able to travel between the two destinations round the clock for free. Each train takes 70 minutes to complete a round and each bogie will accommodate 88-100 passengers, he said. The directions came after the provincial government decided to end free travel on the Metro Bus System.
