A consumer court on Friday issued a notice to the proprietor of a mobile phone shop for March 12 on a suit seeking Rs300,000 damages for allegedly selling a defective phone.
Petitioner Muhammad Arshad said that in January, he had purchased a mobile from Asad Mobiles, Hafeez Centre, and the respondent had assured him he would replace it in case of any fault. After a few days, the phone started malfunctioning. He went to the respondent with the complaint but he flatly refused to replace it.
He prayed to the court to direct the respondent to pay him Rs15,000 (phone price), Rs85,000 for mental torture and Rs200,000 damages.
Proprietor Asad told The Express Tribune there was some problem with the phone loudspeaker. He said he had promised to remove the fault, but the petitioner did not turn up again.
