Capacity building: Vocational training participants awarded grants

Participants of a six-month long vocational training programme were awarded grants and certificates at a ceremony held at the Government Poly Technical Institute at Ekka Ghund on Thursday.
Zenat Rauf, a trainer said that she was proud to see the participants will finally be able to earn and pay zakat instead of being on the receiving end. Fazila, a student said that in order to learn more, women must come forward. She praised the department’s efforts and demanded more of such training programmes in the area.

The Agency Zakat Committee Chairman Abdul Wadood Faqer distributed a grant of Rs5,000 each and certificates among the participants. He said that the committee has spent Rs4.4 million on the project, wherein 60 female students were trained in tailoring courses and 160 male students in land survey, computer and electrician courses in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas.
