LAHORE:

An additional district and sessions judge on Wednesday directed the capital city police officer to investigate a petition seeking the registration of a case against five police officials including a sub-inspector who allegedly raped a girl on January 25 in Raiwind City.

Petitioner Parveen Bibi stated that she had left her house to buy groceries leaving her daughter alone at home. She alleged that Assistant Sub Inspector Muhammad Aslam and constables Iftikhar and Ghulam Rasool had forced their way into her house dressed in plain clothes. They offered her payment for sex and raped her when she refused, Parveen said.

She said the neighbours heard her daughter’s cries and gathered around the house. When no one opened the door one of them, Arshad Ali, scaled the wall and unlocked the door. The neighbours caught the men red-handed and called police, she said.

Parveen said sub inspectors Muhammad Bashir and Abdul came to her house and instructed her to go to the police station to file a case against the rapists.

She said that when she went to the police station Bashir locked her in a room and implicated her in a drug case.

She was produced before a magistrate on January 26 and was released on bail. The police had also stolen gold jewellery (30 grams), Rs3,750 and a mobile phone from her house, she alleged.

FIA official granted bail in rape case

Additional District and Sessions Judge Munir Ahmed granted after-arrest bail to FIA Sub Inspector Ahmed Khan Mirani who allegedly raped a woman he had invited to a hotel room by promising her a job.

The bail was granted against Rs100,000 bail bonds after the victim told the court she had no objection.

According to police, three FIA officials had invited the woman to their hotel room. They had consumed copious amounts of liquor and assaulted her. A hotel employee took note of the furore and contacted the police.

The police raided the hotel and arrested Mirani but the others managed to flee.
