BAHAWALPUR:

Several students taking the middle school standard examination protested against an invigilator on Wednesday after he snatched answer sheets from two students and allegedly beat them up for not returning them when time was called.

The protesting students gathered in front of the Shahdara High School, where they were sitting the examination in Arabic.

They said Syed Sajid Hussain snatched the answer sheet from Aftab Ahmad before time. They said when he told him there was still time, Hussain slapped him on the head. As Ahmad still refused to hand it over, they said, he started beating him. They said he also snatched answer sheet from Samiullah Suleman, who was sitting next to Ahmad and whom he accused of laughing at him. He then threw them out.Later, these and other students and their families gathered in front of the school and protested against the invigilator’s high-handedness.

The protesters demanded that the chief minister take notice of the incident and initiate departmental action against Hussain.

Hussain of Government School in Abbass Nagar told The Express Tribune that he had snatched the sheets after time was over. He said he could not give candidates more time. He denied having beaten the students.
