Clan wars : 20-year-old dispute resolved
The dispute between two families had claimed lives of seven people.

A 20-year-old dispute between two families of the Mahar clan, which had claimed the lives of seven people, was settled in a jirga held in Samano Jatoi village, Shikarpur, on Tuesday.
Syed Shaman Shah, who led the jirga, heard the views of both the families before pronouncing Usman Mahar of being guilty of killing six members of Pannah Mahar’s family, and Pannah Mahar being guilty of killing one member of Usman Mahar’s family.
The jirga, which equated one murder in the Usman Mahar family with one in the Pannah Mahar family, imposed a fine of Rs4.5 million upon Usman Mahar group with Rs900,000 to be paid per murder.
Pannah Mahar was given Rs50,000 after the jirga while the remaining amount is to be paid in three installments.
