Student takes IoBM to court for accusing him of leaking papers

A student of the Institute of Business Management (IoBM) has gone to court against his institution for withholding his certificates after falsely accusing him of leaking a paper.
On Wednesday, the Sindh High Court issued notices to provincial education secretary, the Higher Education Commission chairperson and IoBM directors in the petition filed by Arsalan Mohsin Khan.
Khan claimed that he was in the BS Accounts and Finance programme at IoBM, where he completed two semesters.
At the university he used to offer free tuitions to his classmates but he refused to do so for a colleague, Naresh, who was upset so he lodged a complaint with the institute’s administration, said the student’s lawyer.
However, the university’s administration director, Sabina Mohsin, accused Khan of leaking examination papers and restrained him from attending classes.
Khan said that on his request the examination department had called him on March 31, 2012, to collect official transcripts of his certificate, but refused to hand it over when he approached them.
He pleaded the court direct the university management to issue official transcripts of his certificate without any delays.
When the two judges took up the plea on Wednesday, neither the petitioner nor his lawyer were present. Headed by Justice Aqeel Ahmed Abbasi, the bench issued notices to all respondents to file their replies. The hearing was adjourned for a date to be later notified by the office.
