BAHAWALPUR:

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) chief Nawaz Sharif said on Friday that politics was like a religion for him.

Addressing a public gathering in Mohsinabad, Liaquatpur, the opposition leader said that if he is elected by the people in the general elections, he would strive to serve the people of Pakistan to the best of his abilities and improve the situation of the country.

Speaking on the restoration of Bahawalpur province, he said PML-N was the one that raised its voice for the cause in the first place. Up to Rs80 billion was spent on southern Punjab by the provincial government of Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, he claimed. “The federal government is making a (mansooba) (plan) instead of making sooba (province).”

Nawaz said that if his party came to power in the 2013 election, he would ensure that skilled labour would be given loans to help start a business.

Criticising the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP)-led government’s performance over the past five years, the PML-N chief added that it had failed to deliver on any of its pledges to Pakistanis, but if his party was in rule, then the state of the country would have been different.

His first priority would be to serve Pakistanis and he would aim to win their support by serving them. He also claimed credit for the restoration of the judiciary which is now taking suo motu notices against corruption, lawlessness and unconstitutional acts.
