Iran to donate $100m for survivors

Iranian ambassador to Pakistan says Iran will donate $100 million worth of relief goods.

ISLAMABAD:
Iranian ambassador to Pakistan Mashallah Shakiri on Wednesday said Iran will donate $100 million worth of relief goods to Pakistan for flood survivors.

Talking to federal Interior Minister Rehman Malik, the ambassador said: “The Iranian people will not leave their brothers and sisters alone in this hour of crisis.”

He said the Supreme leader of Iran, Ayotallah Khamenei, has announced that ‘Help Pakistan Day’ will be observed in Iran on September 16.


The ambassador said that Iran wanted to strengthen its relations with Pakistan and appealed to the entire world to come forward and generously donate for the cause.

Responding to the ambassador, Interior Minister Rehman Malik said: “We are grateful to Iran for supporting Pakistan in such tough circumstances.” During the meeting, both officials discussed bilateral issues and matters related
to flood relief and rescue work.
