‘Rs1.27b spent on projects’

The Water and Sanitation Agency has already completed four schemes at a cost of Rs8.725 million, says DCO.

The government is spending Rs1.27 billion on 461 ongoing development projects in the district, District Coordination Officer (DCO) Muhammad Ameen Chaudhry said on Monday.


Presiding over a meeting of town and district officials, the DCO said that 60 per cent work on these schemes had been completed. The projects would be completed by mid March, he added.

The DCO said that Rs215.4 million is being spent on the construction of 43 roads across the city, while Rs88.9 million on the construction of 29 government offices.


He said that Rs321.1 million has been earmarked for 143 schemes of water supply and drainage schemes and Rs354.7 million for 140 local government projects.

Chaudhry told the meeting that Rs230 million had been allocated for 83 schemes for driving and paving streets in Allama Iqbal Town, Jaranwala Town, Jinnah Town, Lyallpur Town and Madina Town.

Fourteen development projects would be completed under the supervision of the Faisalabad Development Authority with an estimated cost of Rs39.5 million. Five schemes, he added, would soon be completed under the aegis of the Parks and Horticulture Agency (PHA) at an estimated cost of Rs14.8 million.

The Water and Sanitation Agency has already completed four schemes at a cost of Rs8.725 million, he said.
