FAISALABAD:

Intermediate level students have been facing a lot of problems with the Faisalabad Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education’s (BISE) faulty online admission system, and have been left stranded two days before the deadline for admissions.

The BISE authorities had launched an online admission system to facilitate students but had failed to correct its flaws.

Several students had recorded their protest against the defective online admission system, due to which the BISE had extended the date for receipt of Intermediate admission forms from February 4 to February 11.

However, the BISE is yet to fix its faulty online system even though the deadline for admissions is at hand.

BISE Examination Controller Zafar Iqbal said the authority had established facilitation centres for students in all BISE affiliated colleges, but students had failed to download and upload admission forms at these centres. There are no facilitation centres for private candidates who have to resort to the manual process for registration.

Iqbal said the online admission system was functional, but there were technical problems with the main server located in Lahore, due to which candidates faced problems. He said students could alternatively fill out challan forms at the Habib Bank, National Bank of Pakistan or United Bank Limited, and manually register their admissions at the BISE office.

Mubeen Anwar, a private student from Iqbal Colony, said, “I visited the facilitation centre five times and still couldn’t submit my admission form.” There were no challan forms available at the banks designated for depositing the admission fee either, he added. “I visited these banks several times but have not been able to get hold of a challan form and cant submit my admission because of that,” Anwar deplored.

Shaneela Toor, a student from Rajay Wala, said, “The BISE has incompetent staff.”

Akbar Shumeer, a student from Jaranwala, said, “I filled out my online admission form four times through the online system, but there were error messages every time I tried to submit it.”

Jameel, another student, said, “When I tried to print my form after entering my data, the website showed someone else’s picture instead of mine.”
