LAHORE:

The pre-arrest bail pleas of Nadir Feroz and Shakeel Nagra, who are accused of criminal negligence in connection with the deaths of some 200 cardiac patients, were adjourned without proceedings on Saturday due to a lawyers’ strike.

The case has been scheduled for February 12. Feroz is the deputy managing director and Nagra the plant general manager at Efroze Chemical Industries, the manufacturer of Isotab, a contaminated batch of which is believed responsible for the deaths of 213 patients.

At the last hearing, the district and sessions judge had given the counsel for the accused more time to prepare his final arguments in light of a judicial inquiry into the deaths.
