Football: Drogba spoke to Mourinho before move

Drogba has signed an 18-month contract with Turkish Giants Galatasaray.

Didier Drogba has revealed he had talked to Real Madrid head coach Jose Mourinho before he signed an 18-month contract with Turkish Giants Galatasaray, according to Inside Futbol.

He made sure he properly conversed with his former boss Mourinho and did his research before he confirmed his move to coach Fatih Terim’s team — who he joined in Istanbul on Friday.

“Before I joined, I spoke quite a bit with Emmanuel Eboue, but I also talked with Mourinho,” Drogba told reporters. “Me being here with Sneijder is a message to other big clubs. I want to win the Champions League.”

Drogba, who has just returned from playing in the African Cup of Nations for the Ivory Coast, feels fit enough ahead of his Galatasaray challenge.
