PESHAWAR:

As part of its reorganisation process, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) women’s wing in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) appointed two new officers for Nowshera district on Friday.

Aasma Ali and Saeeda Khan have been appointed as new organisers to bring vibrancy in the party’s activities in the district, announced Tahira Bukhari, the PML-N’s women wing president in the province, while inaugurating a new office in Nowshera.

The women’s wing in K-P is currently being reorganised after member of provincial assembly and former president Shazia Aurangzeb quit in November 2012 over differences with the party’s leadership.

Discarding the appointments made by Auranzeb in her tenure, the newly appointed president Tahira Bukhari and general secretary Begum Shaheen Habibullah have been handed the task to regroup the party.

So far, new organising secretaries and district organisers have been appointed in more than 80% electoral constituencies in K-P, including southern districts of Peshawar, Swabi and Mardan. Other names will be made public after the completion of the process, Bukhari said at the event.

Flanked by Secretary General Habibullah and chief organiser Sobia Khan, Bukhari urged women to play a greater role in the party and to fight for helping the country steer away from the various crises it faces today.

“Pakistan is passing through a critical phase in its history where forces opposing democracy have put the country’s security at stake,” Bukhari said, adding that in these circumstances women should come forward and stand shoulder to shoulder with their male counterparts to play their part for the country’s future.
