Targeted killings: Religious groups announce strike
Mufti Deenpuri was gunned down on Thursday.

Clerics and leaders of religious parties announced a strike on Friday at the end of their 72-hour ultimatum to the government for arresting the killers of a top Sunni scholar Mufti Abdul Majeed Deenpuri of Jamia Uloom Islamia, Binori Town.
Mufti Deenpuri was gunned down on Thursday, January 31, along with a fellow cleric Mufti Muhammad Saleh and a student Hassan Ali Shah when unidentified men ambushed their car at one of the city’s busiest roads, Shahrae Faisal. Dr Abdul Razzaq Iskandar of Wafaqul Madaris al Arabia flanked by leaders of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl and Ahle Sunnat wal Jamaat’s Aurangzeb Farooqui announced the call for strike during a press conference.
