Meter-Ed Out: Anti-Corruption Dept’s comments sought

LAHORE:

An additional district and sessions judge sought comments from the Anti-Corruption Department director for February 12 on a petition seeking action against Lesco officials for allegedly demanding bribes to  install meters.

Petitioner Muhammad Ashraf submitted that Lesco Line Superintendent Muhammad Waris sought Rs415,000 from him to install three electricity meters at his shops in Central Park. The petitioner said he paid Rs395,000, but Waris neither installed the meters, nor returned his money. He said senior Wapda officials were in cahoots with Waris.

Ashraf said he had approached the Anti-Corruption Department but was ignored. He prayed the court to direct the respondent to take action against the Lesco and Wapda officials involved.
