Dual-office case: Zardari to give up political position soon, says counsel

President Asif Ali Zardari will soon give up his political position, said the government’s counsel, Waseem Sajjad, on Wednesday during the contempt of court proceedings against President Asif Ali Zardari in the dual-office case.
The Lahore High Court bench, headed by Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial, heard the case today.
During his arguments, Sajjad said that Zardari was not the head of the Pakistan Peoples Party’s (PPP). “The party named in the case is headed by Makhdoom Amin Faheem,” he explained.
He assured that the president’s house will not be used for PPP political activities, adding that Zardari never did so earlier.
Sajjad also submitted his written reply to the court.
The hearing of the case was adjourned till February 15.
