Workers’ convention: PPP ended mistrust among provinces, says Kaira
PPP-led government had promoted politics of reconciliation, says information minister
TAXILA:
Information Minister Qamar Zaman Kaira on Tuesday said Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) government has exterminated mistrust among the provinces and revived the prestige of the national flag by successfully hoisting it at every nook and corner of the country.
Addressing a worker’s convention, he said the PPP-led government had promoted politics of reconciliation.
Brushing aside the impression that PPP has not delivered during its five year tenure, Kaira said at the very outset of the tenure in 2008 there was scarcity of flour, wheat, sugar and other edible items. People used to get essential items in queues.
In 2008, the government had to import wheat and sugar and now in 2013, ample stocks of staples are available in the country, he said.
The information minister said that people were saying that the party would split up after the assassination of Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, but with only 128 seats PPP was set to complete its five-year tenure.
“We are more sincere to Punjab than Shahbaz Sharif,” he said. Punjab government spent Rs120 billion on a road in Lahore. “If all the budget of Punjab is spent in Lahore, the people of South Punjab will be right in raising their voice for their rights.”
Paying tributes to Kashmiris on solidarity day, he said that independence of Pakistan is incomplete without the independence of Kashmir and “we have to complete the independence of Pakistan.”
Criticising Chaudhry Nisar, he said Nisar was not clear regarding agenda of sit-in. Nisar wants notes and votes alike which is not possible in current scenario.
