Conflict of interests: WAPDA employees to stage sit-ins

The employees of the Water and Power Development Authority (Wapda) will stage sit-ins in front of their offices across the country on February 7 (Thursday) for acceptance of their demands. Wapda’s labour union (CBA) President Sirajuddin Saqib, told APP that a 138-point charter of the demands had already been presented to the managing director of the Pakistan Electric Power Company (Pepco). Saqib said the demands included upgrading the posts of linemen, stenographers and others, introduction of a promotion policy ensuring promotion of employees after every five years, payment of two Eid bonuses per annum and a special bonus to non-Muslim employees. CBA Zonal Chairman Sabir Ali Shah and Syed Ashfaq Hussain Sherazi said that their protest will continue till the acceptance of their demands.
