Hitting back: SC should take notice of Qadri’s remarks, says Rehman Malik

Says MQI chief should hire a professional political adviser as he himself had no idea of what he was talking about.

ISLAMABAD:

Interior Minister Rehman Malik called on the chief justice of Pakistan  on Monday that Minhajul Quran International (MQI) chief Dr Tahirul Qadri’s claims of ‘averting’ the threat of a military take-over by not letting his followers create chaos during the Islamabad sit-in.

“Inviting martial law was an unconstitutional and unlawful act,” said Malik, while addressing the media on his return from London. He added that the MQI chief should hire a professional political adviser as he himself had no idea of what he was talking about.

Referring to the PML-N’s sit-in in front of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), the interior minister said the opposition’s sit-in was completely different from Qadri’s.

“The government would support parliamentarians’ sit-in. They have the right
to hold any protest sit-in or rallies,” Malik said.
