Agreement: KESC contracts Siemens to build grid station

KARACHI:
The Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC) and the Aga Khan Hospital and Medical College Foundation (AKHMCF) have signed contract agreements with Siemens Pakistan for the establishment of a 132 kilovolt (kV) GIS grid station at the AKHMCF premises, at a total cost of Rs680.7 million.
The grid station will be shared jointly by KESC and AKHMCF.
The new grid station will allow reliable supply of electricity to the Aga Khan Hospital, given the vital nature of its healthcare services to the patients, in addition to KESC consumers. It will also improve the system’s reliability and stability by enhancing KESC’s installed capacity from 4,573 megavolt-ampere (MVA) to 4,653MVA with the addition of three power transformers.
