KARACHI:

Pakistan Peoples Party MPA Pitanbar Sewani moved an adjournment motion in the Sindh Assembly against Khairpur Mirs SHO and other policemen, for harassing a Hindu family.

According to Sewani, SHO Ghulam Mustafa Mirani, ASI Sikandar Abro, and other policemen were wearing civilian clothes and driving a private car when they entered the house of a grade-19 professor, Sachanand, accusing him of bringing a girl from Karachi for illicit relations. The girl was actually the professor’s young daughter, he said.

Sewani claimed that the police dragged her by her hair to the car and were planning to kidnap her, when the neighbours came and told the police that she was the professor’s daughter.

Sewani also accused the police of demanding Rs500,000 from the professor. When he refused, they robbed him of Rs200,000. The incident was reported in local newspapers and Sewani asked Khairpur Mirs SSP to lodge an FIR but he ignored him and said that the two police officers involved in it has been suspended and transferred from the area.

“We demand that the police officials involved in this incident should be suspended,” he said.
