Calamity averted: Botched attempt to blow up gas facility
Two people were hurt and the city was saved from a major calamity.

Two people were hurt and the city was saved from a major calamity on Sunday when an explosive thrown at a gas supply facility failed to hit the target. According to SSP Gulshan-e-Iqbal Asim Qaimkhani two pillion riders threw an explosive at the gas pumping station of the Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) near Nipa flyover. The explosive hit the protective iron grill of the pumping station and blew up without causing any damage to the facility, he said. A rickshaw driver and his passenger suffered minor injuries. The SSP said that Bomb Disposal Squad was called in to examine the nature of the material used in the blast.
