Road accident: Five dead, 11 injured
The driver lost control of the vehicle as he tried to navigate a sharp turn, and the van plunged into the rocky chasm

Five passengers died and 11 were injured when a van plummeted into a deep ravine in Batkot, Bisham tehsil. Bisham police official Yousaf Khan said a van with 16 passengers was en route to Gilgit-Baltistan from Rawalpindi when the accident occurred on Sunday. The driver lost control of the vehicle as he tried to navigate a sharp turn, and the van plunged into the rocky chasm. Khan said four passengers died on the spot while the fifth succumbed to injuries en route to the hospital. The deceased and injured, including children, were shifted to Bisham Tehsil Headquarters Hospital by locals. “A critically injured woman was referred to Ayub Medical Complex,” the official added. Yousaf identified the deceased as Shamsud Din, Siraj, Abdul Mateen and Khanzada while the identity of one couldn’t be ascertained. A case was filed against the driver Afzal for reckless driving.
