ISLAMABAD:
Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted widespread rain for most parts of the country on Monday and Tuesday with chances of heavy snowfall over the hills.
Widespread snowfall, heavy at times, is expected over the hills of Malakand, Hazara, Murree, Galiyat, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir on Monday and Tuesday. Hailing is also expected at isolated places in the plains of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) and Punjab including Islamabad during the period.
The snowfall will occur under the influence of intensified weather system from Sunday evening.
The Met office said Murree and Galiyat are also likely to receive heavy snowfall.
Heavy snowfall ranging from three to four feet may occur over the hills of higher altitude (more than 7,000 feet) and two to three feet snowfall over the hills of lower altitude (5,000-7,000 feet) during the period.
The heavy snowfall may cause the closure of link roads and the possibility of avalanches/landslides cannot be ruled out in the areas mentioned above during the period.
Widespread rain is expected in K-P, Balochistan, Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan and upper Punjab including Islamabad, while scattered rain is expected in southern Punjab during next 24 hours.
